About The Artist
Wildlife Artist in Cornwall, Jon Tremaine has a unique way of creating his contemporary pen and ink animal art like no other british artist. Using an Isograph Pen charged with Indian ink and the finest 0.10mm nib affords incredible detail to be drawn on white Bristol card, but is totally unforgiving.
Jon was born in Cornwall and takes his inspiration from the counties abundance of wild life an fauna. His drawing is intrinsically self taught. He is incredibly analytical when it comes to his craft. This is his fundamental approach to the drawings, swiftly followed by the enormous inspiration he holds for an exciting and challenging uniqueness during the creation of his subject matter. Jon remarks, "Drawing for me is a time of relaxation, it holds excitement too along with the realisation of the pleasure's it will give to others. The choice of species is mine, I chose an Otter for its friendly face, The Heron for its stealth like posture and the Kingfisher for its royal magnificence".
The concept of pictures within pictures was inspired by Jon's late brother David. He had drawn a tree which contained interlinking abstract images. Jon developed this concept by introducing wild animals and fauna which is portrayed in his art today.
Jon creates original pen and ink art work, limited edition Gicle'e prints and original commissions. You can contact Jon via the contacts button on the home page should you wish to enquire about commissions, availability, ordering or any other question you might have regarding his art.
